FIREFIGHTER MINIMUM STANDARDS COURSE

This course consists of a total of 400 hours, excluding First Responder. First Responder certification (DOT 40hrs) is a pre-requisite for this course and will be offered prior every fire academy. This course is held at Midway Fire District Training Facility, located at 1801 Abercrombie Rd, Gulf Breeze, FL 32563. Class hours are Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5:30- 9:30pm and every Saturday from 8:00am- 5:00pm.  Attendance is mandatory. Class size is limited.  Insufficient enrollment will result in course cancellation.

 This course covers all objectives set forth by the State of Florida as well as NFPA 1001; 2008 edition. This course is very physically and mentally demanding, and all prospective students will be required to complete all objectives. Students are required to supply their own PPE, including SCBA, throughout the course. These items may be rented by a third party. Please click HERE for list of providers.

Students will be required to pass a physical ability test upon completion of the Minimum Standards Course. Physical fitness will be a strong part of the course to prepare students for this physical challenge.

Prospective students are to print, and bring the appropriate application forms to the mandatory orientation meeting held at the Midway Fire District Administration Building, 1322 College Pkwy, Gulf Breeze, FL 32563. DO NOT BE LATE!

Following orientation, students will then be required to submit paperwork and tuition fees to Midway Fire District Admin during the open enrollment period posted. Students will be enrolled on a first come, first served basis during this period. Only completed forms and full payment will be accepted.

CASHIER CHECKS AND MONEY ORDERS ARE THE ONLY FORMS OF PAYMENT ACCEPTED AT THIS TIME.

Course Fees are as follows:

Minimum Standards Tuition- $1,700.00  (*NOTE: Unfortunately due to the increase of  hours mandated by the Florida State Fire College, Midway Fire Academy has had to increased the cost of this Course.)

Textbook & Workbook- $125.00

Uniform Shirts- $10.00/each ($30.00 minimum)

Facility Fee- $75.00
