FIREFIGHTER II
INFORMATION

Midway Fire District will be offering a Firefighter II Course
starting September 27, 2008 and completing January 17, 2009. The
Course will be held at Midway Fire Training Facility at 1801
Abercrombie Rd, Gulf Breeze, Florida 32563. Class hours are Tuesday
and Friday nights from 5:30- 9:30pm and every Saturday from 8:00am-
5:00pm. Attendance is mandatory.
The Course will cover all objectives set forth by the State of
Florida as well as NFPA 1001. Students are required to supply their
own PPE (firefighter gear) including SCBA (air pack). These items
may be rented by a third party. This Course is very physically and
mentally demanding, and all prospective students will be required to
complete all objectives.
Students will be required to pass a physical ability test upon
completion of the Course. Physical fitness will thus be a strong
part of the Course in order to prepare students for this physical
challenge.
Students will need to attend a mandatory orientation at Midway
Fire District Administration Building, 1322 College Pkwy, Gulf
Breeze, Florida 32563 on September 15, 2008 at 6:00 pm to turn in
all paperwork. DO NOT BE LATE!
Prospective students are to download a Midway Fire Academy
Application Packet at
www.midwayfireacademy.com. Completed applications and tuition
are to be turned in on September 15, 2008 at orientation. Please be
sure to bring two (2) separate cashier’s checks or money orders.
Tuition will be payable to Midway Fire District, and the State
application fee will be payable to DFS (Department of Financial
Services). Fingerprint cards will be completed the night of
orientation, although the student is required to pay the fingerprint
fee online and provide a receipt. This fee is payable online at
www.fldfsprints.com or by calling 888-717-5699 and paying by
MasterCard or Visa.
All fees are to be paid in full on the night of September 15,
2008. Estimated course fees are as follows:

Minimum Standards Tuition- $1600.00 (This course is VA
approved.)

Textbook- Fundamentals of Fire Fighting by Jones and
Bartlett is included in tuition.

Uniform Shirts- $10.00/each

All students must also pay a State of Florida certification
of $30.00 & fingerprint fee of $64.00 (paid online.)
